Widely used across medieval Europe during the 14th and 15th centuries, the Glaive was a practical and formidable weapon. Historians believe pole arms may have evolved from agricultural tools, offering a more affordable alternative to a sword by mounting a blade to the end of a long wooden pole. This simple design provided infantry soldiers with exceptional reach and striking power, making the pole arms particularly effective against armored opponents and mounted foes.

Like spears and other polearms, Glaives played an important role in infantry formations and castle defense. In the hands of a trained soldier, their extended reach allowed defenders to keep enemies at bay while maintaining the advantage of distance.

Our wooden glaive carries on that tradition and is built for training while maintaining the handling characteristics that have made polearms a favorite for centuries.
