The first Katana appeared in Japan around the Kamakura period (1185–1333) and has left a lasting legacy. Katanas were a symbol of status and power as they took many hours and materials to make leaving them to be used primarily by the honorable or wealthy.
Samurai who wanted to be prepared for anything, not to mention make a statement, would pair a Katana with a Tanto or Wakizashi to form a Daisho meaning big and small.
Our Katanas feature a curved, single edged blade with a beveled back with your choice of specialty wood and round or lotus shaped Tsuba guard.
